Uses for Claro Walnut:
Live edge Claro Walnut wood slabs are ideal for making wide Nakashima style table tops because it is a very stable wood. Claro Walnut lumber is often used to make various furniture items, cabinetry, musical instruments, veneer, turned items, and gun stocks.Workability:
Claro Walnut lumber is very easy to work with, assuming the grain is straight and regular; you may have tearout when using the planer if the grain is irregular. Claro Walnut glues, stains, and finishes well. Due to high demand and limited supply for this beautiful species it can be expensive, especially if highly figured or very wide natural edge wood slabs.Color:
Claro Walnut wood slabs have a dark heartwood and contrasting off-white sapwood. The heartwood can range from light to dark brown with darker brown streaking; sometimes with a gray, purple, or red hue. Claro Walnut can have varying degrees of burl or curly figure and variegated coloring. Janka Hardness:1130 (medium)
Decay and Weather Resistance:Rated as very durable in regard to decay resistance, but is susceptible to insect attack.
