Siberian Elm Wood Origin:
Siberian Elm is native to Eastern Asia and was introduced to the U.S. in the 1860s for its hardiness, fast growth, and ability to grow in various moisture conditions.
Siberian Elm Uses:
The attractive interlocking grain makes it an ideal wood for making fine furniture and flooring.
Color:Siberian Elm is mostly heartwood which is a medium brown color.
Decay and Weather Resistance:Siberian Elm is very durable; it is the hardiest of all the elm species, however it is not decay resistant. Siberian Elm trees are resistant to Dutch Elm disease.
Workability:It should be dried slowly so that the wood doesn’t split. It is considered easy to work with by hand tools and most machinery.
